Daiwa is a name that has been around for years and they have developed a reputation for great gear. I remember my first rod and reel combo was a Daiwa spin-casting reel with the thumb trigger. Great reel for catching crappies and perch, but not much use for a tuna!
To get trophy tuna, striper, wahoo, marlin and other large fish into the boat requires a much more substantial rod. The Daiwa Saltiga is a great boat rod for butterfly jigging. These may be classified as a light, inshore rod but it is capable of controling a 100+ lb fish. Match up this rod with a stand up harness and no more than 50W line and you should be all set for a variety of great game fish.
